Chandigarh: Kazakhstan and India have "tremendous scope" for the bilateral economic cooperation between the two Nations, especially in nuclear energy and other natural resources such as oil and minerals with special focus on agriculture.

Disclosing this here today, Doulat Kuanyshev, Kazakhstan Ambassador to India, said the potential for bilateral cooperation is enormous and the current state of this cooperation is well behind our capabilities and aspirations.

"This needs to be accelerated and strengthened further," he added.

Kuanyshev today called on Punjab Governor Shivraj V Patil at Punjab Raj Bhavan here.

Discussing various issues at length, Patil said India enjoys mature bilateral relations and strong socio-cultural linkages with Kazakhstan.

He emphasised the need for further strengthening economic & trade ties through vibrant partnership and joint ventures in different fields of activity.

Patil said that there was a major scope to further expand business cooperation in the fields of agriculture produce.

He said if both the countries exchange their individuals and delegations in this area to know each others experience and expertises, would be proved of immense mutual benefit to people on both sides.

Punjab has achieved a major breakthrough in the agriculture sector and allied fields and is emerging as a progressive and vibrant investment destination.

Patel suggested for strengthening partnerships in Ari-related ventures especially food processing which has a major scope of collaboration.
