New Delhi: Union Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister Radha Mohan Singh on Saturday visited some outlets of Mother Dairy and Safal to promote cashless transaction, an official statement said.

"Singh visited some outlets of Mother Dairy and Safal to see the digitalisation drive to promote cashless transaction here," it said.

Visiting the outlets at Ashok Road, Kutir Marg and Tees January Marg here, the minister purchased some dairy products and made cashless payment via SBI Mother Dairy smart change cards and e-wallet.

Singh also enquired about the payment options available in the outlet with the booth operators and saw a demonstration on the ease of purchase through digital mode.

The statement said that there has been an increase of 243 per cent in the transactions at Mother Dairy and Safal booths through SBI Mother Dairy smart change card post demonetisation while an increase of 1,363 per cent in transactions through e-wallet.

Mother Dairy, a wholly owned subsidiary of the National Dairy Development Board (NDDB), was launched to make India a milk sufficient nation while Safal is engaged in retailing of fresh fruits, vegetables and value added products like jams, frozen peas and others.
