Woman hacked to death by nephew over suspected sorcery

Baripada: A woman was hacked to death by nephew on suspicion of practising sorcery at Thakursahi village under Kaptipada police limits last evening.

When the deceased, identified as Gumi Murmu, had gone to a local market, nephew Rupal Murmu called his aunt to nearby river bank and slit her throat with a sharp weapon.

Cops launched a probe into the murder after the accused surrendered at the Kaptipada police station.
