Two persons held for sexually harassing minor girls

Angul: In two separate incidents, police have detained a youth in Chhendipada of Angul district in connection with molestation of a minor girl while another person has been arrested in Puri district for allegedly attempting to rape a Class V girl.

Police today arrested one Kartik Sahu of Singhipania village for allegedly misbehaving and attempting to kill a standard V student inside a school premises at Jogeswarpur village in Puri district.

According to reports, accused Kartik had attempted to rape the minor girl after dragging her from the school. He also tried to kill the girl after she raised an alarm, informed sources.

Later, some locals had rushed to the spot after hearing the screams of the girl and rescued her in a critical condition.

Based on the statements of the girl, Kartik was arrested by police today.

In another incident, residents of Behera Sahi under Chhendipada police limits in Angul district nabbed a youth and thrashed him black and blue for allegedly molesting a minor girl and threatening to kill her.

As per a complaint filed by the family members of the minor girl today, the youth had manhandled her on Monday while she was taking bath. After other women present at the spot raised an alarm, the youth fled the spot and was later nabbed by villagers.

On basis of the complaint, police have detained the youth and started an investigation into the incident.
