Bhubaneswar: A minor girl from Odisha’s Keonjhar district who landed in a prostitution racket in neighbouring Jharkhand was rescued today.

The matter came to light after a team of Sakchi police had detained the minor girl from Barbil in connection with a mobile theft case.

According to preliminary investigation, the victim had eloped with a friend Suraj who had promised to marry her. After keeping her in a hotel for two days, Suraj escaped.

Later, another youth Rahul had engaged her in flesh trade against her will.

“A team of Mahila police was constituted and three youths—Kundan Kumar, Ranjan Singh and Amrit Singh have been arrested in connection with the incident,” said DSP Sudhir Kumar.
Kumar further informed that the prime accused Rahul is absconding and efforts are on to nab him.

Meanwhile, Childline have been given the custody of the victim girl.
