Puri: Police today sent the body of the woman found at Mangupada forest in Jagdalpur area under Delanga police limits in the district on August 2 to the Forensic Medicine and Toxicology department of SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack for forensic examination.

The dead body of the woman was spotted by some locals in the forest, on Wednesday, with her throat slit. As per the circumstantial evidences, the woman is suspected to have been gang raped and then murdered.

While the police investigation is still on into the case, the identity of the woman is yet to be established.

"We have already sent the photograph of the woman to all the police stations in the district but we are yet to get her identity. She could be from outside Puri or the State," said Inspector-in-Charge of Delanga police station Dayanidhi Nayak.
