Contractor hacked to death in his house

Nabarangpur: In a ghastly incident, unidentified criminals today hacked a contractor to death at his residence at RK Colony here in Nabarangpur.

According to sources, the deceased contractor, identified as Pradeep Agrawal, was in his house when three unknown persons entered and started talking to him.

Pradeep then reportedly ordered tea and was chatting with the trio when suddenly they attacked him with sharp weapons and swords and fled, sources added. The fact that he ordered tea for the miscreants has also raised suspicions that Pradeep might be knowing them.

Pradeep, with his left hand severed and deep cuts on his shoulder, was immediately rushed to Nabarangpur Headquarters Hospital where the doctors declared him dead.

Though the exact reason behind the murder has still not been ascertained, police reached the spot and began a probe into the incident.

“The reason is still unclear but we suspect past rivalry behind the killing. Investigation is on. The criminals will be identified and arrested soon,” said a police official.
