Childline rescues minor girl engaged as domestic help at doctor’s residence

Bhubaneswar: Childline officials on Thursday rescued a 13-year-old minor girl working as a domestic help at the house of a Bhubaneswar-based doctor.

It is alleged that the minor girl from Jharkhand was allegedly subjected to torture and was rescued by Childline after getting information from local residents.

The officials of Childline said, few local residents had brought the matter to their notice after hearing the cries of the minor girl from inside the doctor’s house today.

According to reports, the doctor who is working in a premier private hospital had engaged the minor girl to look after his twins for the past few months.

“With assistance from Khandagiri police, we have rescued the minor girl and only after she is produced before Child Welfare Committee (CWC) and given counseling, more details regarding the nature of abuse can be ascertained for necessary action,” said CWC member, Benudhar Senapathy.
