2 fake Maoists arrested, juvenile detained for extortion in Sundergarh

Sundergarh: A juvenile has been detained while two persons were arrested by police for attempting to extort money by posing as Maoists in Sundergarh district.

According to reports, the trio had demanded extortion money worth Rs 50 lakh from a school headmaster.

The gang had reportedly threatened the headmaster to blow up the school and abduct students if he did not pay the ransom, police said.

Based on the complaint filed by the school headmaster, police had launched an investigation into the incident and the gang of fake Maoists was nabbed from Lahunipada area.
